Adjustment of the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport Project.

The article announces the government's proposal to the National Assembly for adjusting the investment policy of the Long Thanh International Airport Project. According to Resolution No. 94/2015/QH13, the project was approved with the goal of building an airport that meets ICAO's 4F standard, aiming to become an international air transit hub in the region.

The government proposes to adjust the scale and timeline for implementing Phase 1 of the project, which includes the construction of two runways and one passenger terminal with a capacity of 25 million passengers per year and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year, with completion expected by the end of 2026. Additionally, the government recommends allowing the approval of the Phase 1 feasibility report without needing to submit it to the National Assembly.

In the subsequent phases, Phase 2 and Phase 3 will expand the airport by adding more runways and passenger terminals, with a target capacity of 50 million passengers per year in Phase 2 and 100 million passengers per year in Phase 3.

The government also proposes constructing the third runway in Phase 1 rather than later, to ensure continuous operational efficiency and cost savings. This is considered reasonable since the groundwork for the runway has already been prepared, and the investment cost will not exceed the project’s approved budget.

The National Assembly's Standing Committee has agreed to the proposed adjustment of the investment policy and asked the government to take into account feedback to complete the project dossier.
