Operators must now submit comprehensive passenger manifests, security clearance documentation, and detailed flight itineraries a minimum of 72 hours before the scheduled arrival time — an increase from the previous 48-hour requirement. This extended window allows Vietnamese security agencies adequate time to process clearances and coordinate appropriate security arrangements.
For truly urgent diplomatic missions where the 72-hour requirement cannot be met, operators may request expedited processing through the emergency diplomatic channel. However, approval of such requests is not guaranteed and should not be relied upon for routine VVIP operations.
Enhanced Ground Security Screening
The new protocols also introduce enhanced ground security screening procedures at all international airports in Vietnam.
