Vietnam Visa Exemption Policy in 2026
Visa exemption, also known as visa-free or visa-waiver, is a Government policy allowing foreigners to enter a country for a specific period without applying for a visa in advance. This policy aims to promote tourism, investment, diplomacy, and international exchange. The permitted length of stay is defined in agreements or Government resolutions.
In 2026, Vietnam applies a visa waiver policy to citizens of 39 countries, with permitted stays ranging from 14 to 90 days depending on nationality. In addition, overseas Vietnamese and their spouses and children may apply for a 5-year visa exemption certificate, allowing multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days per entry.
Compared with regular visas, visa exemption saves time and cost for travelers and overseas Vietnamese.

Crew of scheduled commercial airlines with valid CMC on active duty enter visa-free under 3 scenarios:

Bilateral Crew Exemptions (for charter/private crew from select countries):
USA (Delta), Qatar (Qatar Airways), Japan (JAL), Australia (Jetstar), France (Air France), South Korea (Asiana), Russia, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Poland, Luxembourg — crew from these countries may qualify for additional reciprocal visa exemptions.
CMC entry is for ACTIVE DUTY on scheduled commercial flights only. Charter/private crew must use e-visa. Cannot be used for personal holidays or after leaving airline employment. Crew on personal travel must apply for a standard e-visa (3–5 working days).
